California

Places to visit in November California

Last November I decided to take a two week road trip around the US west coast and can highly
recommend you do the same. California has so much to offer, from the trendy life is San Francisco to the
relaxed atmosphere you’ll find in Los Angeles. If you get the chance to visit Yosemite National Park, you absolutely should. This is a destination fit for all travellers, with trails suitable for all abilities from including seasoned hikers or families. Renting a car is the best way to get around, this will allow you to experience the Pacific Coast Highway, a
beautiful drive right along the coast that takes you past stunning beaches like Malibu and cool towns such as Monterrey and Santa Cruz.

Wellington

The saying goes that ‘you can’t beat Wellington on a good day’ and November sees the start of summer
creeping into the world’s coolest little capital. Enjoy the warmer days with a walk round the harbour, ice cream in hand (yes, ice cream in November!), followed by a cable car trip up to the Botanic Gardens for perfect views over the city. End your night in one of the many great bars lining Cuba Street and take in the laid back atmosphere.

Every street feels like you’re walking through a film set. From The Pantheon and Colosseum to the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain, Rome is one of the most artistic and romantic cities in Europe. The history and architecture is incredible and the traditional Italian food is delicious. Visit during the shoulder seasons of spring and autumn to avoid huge crowds.

Bergamo is a small city near Milan, in the foothills of the Dolomites, it really is a beautiful place. The old town has such a peaceful and welcoming vibe. This is the perfect place for a long weekend in November of eating delicious food, drinking the local wine and taking in the breathtaking views. Expect cold weather, around 7 degrees in November. Jeans, Saucony trainers and a puffa jacket are mandatory.

Belgrade

Place to visit in November Belgrade

Belgrade doesn’t have the best reputation, but it is a fantastic city with wonderful people. If you can stomach the cool temperatures of winter months, then you’ll love the grit and verve of the former Yugoslavian, and now Serbian, capital. Belgrade Fortress overlooks the city and is the best place to watch the sunrise and sunset, check out Skadarlija, Belgrade’s Bohemian borough, learn about the life of Serbia’s favourite son at the Nikola Tesla Museum or go to see either Red Star or Partizan play – the city’s famous football teams, both with legendary atmosphere.
