When Is The Qatar Grand Prix
The Qatar Grand Prix is usually held towards the end of the Formula One calendar, in late November or early December. The next event will be held on 27th – 29th November 2026, with the 2027 event set for 3rd – 5th December 2027.
How To Get Tickets For The Qatar Grand Prix
The best way to get tickets for the Qatar Grand Prix is directly through Lusail Circuit. If you book a 3 day ticket directly through the circuit you’ll have the chance to book a pit lane walk on the Thursday for free! They also offer the cheapest prices over third party and official F1 sites.
Tickets usually go on sale a year in advance and the most popular areas of Turns 2 & 3 can sell out fairly quickly but there are usually still plenty of tickets available in other areas close to the event.
Grandstand vs General Admission
I will always be a big advocate of Grandstand tickets for grand prixs but as far as General Admission goes, Qatar’s is truly fantastic. There is a large hill full of open seating (well, space on the grass) that has a view of the main straight which is one of the best GA spots of the year.
That said, tickets for the event in general are on the cheaper end for F1 and the turn 2/3 tickets are pretty reasonable for a great view in comparison to a lot of other tracks. Having a real seat is important for me and is completely worth it but everyone will have their own priorities.

Thanks to the football World Cup in 2022, Qatar has some of the best infrastructure of large events that I’ve ever seen. Your ticket comes with free use of the metro system* for the weekend and shuttle buses run from the closest metro station to the track. The same happens at the end of the day with literally hundreds of shuttle buses ready to take people to the metro. I was blown away by the efficiency and how easy it was to get home after the race.
You can also get taxis very cheaply in Qatar but a lot of roads are closed for the shuttle buses so it can take a lot longer than you think to get there. I’d really recommend the metro/shuttle combo for easy and efficiency.
*Be sure to collect your free metro ticket from a metro station before you get on the train!

Qatar Airways runs countless flights to Doha from around the world making it incredibly easy to get to. You can also tag a Qatar Grand Prix weekend onto another trip as Doha is so popular for layovers.
Where To Stay In Doha for the Grand Prix
West Bay – The best area for luxury hotel chains and fancy restaurants with alcohol licenses in a modern city atmosphere. Stay here if you want a luxury experience and a variety of cuisines and bars.
The Pearl – Popular area for expats to live. Full of cafes and restaurants with a laid back vibe. Think waterfront walks and marinas with your morning coffee.
Msheireb Area – A more traditional atmosphere near famous Souk Waqif. Easy access to the historic centre and museums but still full of comfortable and luxury hotels. A good base to experience the full spectrum of what Qatar has to offer.
If you prioritise somewhere near a metro stop then it’s so easy to visit all of the areas, plus taxis are so cheap you can get to all the sites easily. Also be sure to book accommodation as early as possible as it fills up fast!
