Where to Eat in the Northern Quarter, Manchester

where to eat in the northern quarterThis post is a collaboration. The spending money was gifted by Hotels.com, but, as always, all views are my own.

As the UK’s second city (sorry Birmingham), Manchester is brimming with excitement. From music to football to food, it has it all, and no place has more going on than the Northern Quarter. Countess restaurants, bars and shops have transformed the previously run down area into a buzzing foodie haven, and all just a few minutes from the all the hotels in Manchester City Centre! It’s the perfect place to just wander and see what you stumble upon, but if you want some ideas, here is some advice on where to eat in the Northern Quarter.

Luck Lust Liquor and Burn

This Mexican restaurant/bar offers huge burritos packed with crazy combos which often include tater tots, halloumi and even one that comes wrapped in a cheese and bacon quesadilla. Head down between 5 and 8pm for great deals on drinks or on a Tuesday for £1 tacos!

Crazy Pedro

“Another Mexican” I hear you say? Well, no. Crazy Pedro actually sells pizza but the “crazy” aspect of the name is definitely accurate. The toppings are pretty out there and often include twists on popular meals, so will you go for chicken and waffles or Katsu curry pizza? They also do a great happy hour (that is a theme here tbh) with £9 bottles of wine and £10 giant pizzas most evenings.

Black Dog Ballroom

Another place with a killer happy hour for a post-work pint. Black Dog Ballroom has cheap drinks, great hot dogs (and other food), alongside several pool tables. They also offer one of the cheapest bottomless brunches in the city, making it the perfect place to visit on a budget.

Cottonopolis

Cottonopolis is the perfect location for a date or celebration, with fancy sushi and Japanese sharing plates along side expertly crafted cocktails. It’s a little pricey, especially compared to the deals most places offer, but it’s worth it for a special occasion!

Band on the Wall

Band on the Wall

Music is the heart of Manchester and Band on the Wall is one of the best venues to catch some up and coming artists. Check out the gig schedule to see what’s on or just head down for a drink and some food in the bar.

Mackie Mayor

Street food markets are becoming a staple for newly renovated areas and the Northern Quarter is no different. Mackie Mayor offers around 10 of the best local vendors including my favourite, Honest Crust Pizza and Baohouse. You can’t book so it can be a bit of a free for all in the evenings, but the food and atmosphere are definitely worth the scramble.

Have you been to the Northern Quarter? What are your favourite bars and restaurants?
